Course Description
This course consists of two years of practical study after which students are entered for the public examination. This course is purely practical consisting of both timed pieces and continued assessment of work completed throughout the course. Candidates should demonstrate an expressive and personal response in their work from two or more of the following activities: Painting; Drawing; Print Making; Modelling, Casting; Carving; Constructing; Installation; Sculpture and Mixed Media. At the end of the course, candidates should present for assessment, three units of coursework. These units should be representative of their highest achievement during the course. Each unit should represent a sustained development from conception to realisation. I response to their chosen activities in Fine Art, pupils will be required to demonstrate skills in: Painting and its different applications; Drawing using pastel, pencil, pen and ink, paint, charcoal or other materials; Collage/Assemblage; Printing and its methods; Constructing through modelling techniques. The following four assessment objectives will be used to mark both the coursework and externally set themed question: Record observations, experiences, ideas in forms appropriate to intentions: Analyse images, objects and artefacts to understand context: Develop and explore ideas; using media, processes and resources reviewing, modifying and refining work as it progresses. Present a personal response, realising intentions and making informed intentions
