Steve Hindmarsh is one of the UK’s leading mediation trainers with thirteen years experience of mediating and training accredited mediators.

Steve has trained over 1,600 people in skills to mediate or resolve conflict. Delivering mediation courses to over 100 organisations in UK and Europe; including BBC, UCL, Plan Interational, DVLA, EUMETSAT, NHS trusts, prisons, fire services and police forces. He has trained accredited mediator teams for over 30 in-house mediation services. Steve coaches and develops new mediation trainers.

All our associates offer the expertise and experience that comes of a minimum of ten years mediating and training mediators. Our practitioners carry active mediation case loads. All have a commitment to CPD and each have their own particular specialism. All our trainers have a qualification in learning or training.

About this course

Our nationally accredited mediation skills course sets the standard for mediation training in the UK. Our course gives the positive behaviours, skills and confidence to secure mutual solutions in complex and challenging conflicts. This course is for internal mediation teams or individuals wanting to excel in mediation. The course is a powerful and challenging journey transforming experienced staff into competent conflict practitioners, giving them a leading edge in successful employee relations. The course offers a role, a structure and a process that can prevent, de-escalate and resolve interpersonal conflict in the workplace. It will also offer a model of mediation that focuses strongly on preserving and rebuilding working relationships. By the end of the programme participants will be able to understand the principles, theory and concepts of mediation, know the importance of creating a safe environment for mediation, apply communication skills to build rapport with people in conflict, overcome resistance and engage people in a win/win approach to their conflict, demonstrate impartial practice within a two party conflict, manage and structure the mediation process, facilitate the co-operative participation of parties in conflict within mediation, safely manage a range of behavioural and emotional responses within the mediation process with appropriate control, build ownership and commitment with the parties through the use of empowerment and recognition, assist people in conflict to achieve outcomes through the mediation process which jointly satisfy their needs and interests, demonstrate anti-discriminatory practice within the mediator role, understand when situations are not suitable for mediation and understand their own development and support needs as mediators.
