This course covers a wide range of topics, which are relevant to working with children and young people; it helps students to link their practice with theoretical perspectives; it includes a combination of face-to-face classes and more flexible forms of study.
Year 1: Studying in higher education; building relationships with children and young people; effective communication with children and young people; learning and development of children and young people; professional practice 1. Year 2: Working with young people in groups; safeguarding children and young people; becoming an effective reflective practitioner; professional practice 2; ethical issues. Year 3: Multi agency working; social policy and inclusive practice; supporting transitions. Assessment methods Students are assessed through a range of approaches including essays, professional logs, projects and presentations.
