Working Men's College Overview
Working Men’s College for women and men in Camden is a fantastic place to study – delivering outstanding results for adults. Founded in 1854, to bring “liberal arts to the working man”, WMC is the oldest adult education institution in Europe, and in 1967 it merged with its sister Working Women’s College.
WMC has grown to about 8,000 enrolments but we remain small enough to know all our students and respond to their individual needs. We provide a wide range of student support. In June 2008 Ofsted praised many aspects of the college as Outstanding - including our success in meeting the needs and interests of our learners.
Located by Camden Town, WMC is based in one of the must culturally exciting, diverse and dynamic locations. We are a few steps from Koko and close to St Pancras Station (and Paris!), the British Library, Camden Lock Market, The Roundhouse and loads of shops, pubs, bars, restaurants, clubs, and music, drama and art venues. Our nearest tube is Mornington Crescent.
Sitting inside our 1904 listed building with its stunning Victoriana, wonderful Old Library and Arts and Crafts ceiling you will find a great new library space with PCs and Macs, dedicated art studios, new classrooms and spaces for digital arts and music technology. The new John Ruskin Café, open from nine am to eight pm (two pm on Saturday), is much used by students for good food, study and discussions between classes.
