We deliver thousands of courses for adults of all backgrounds each year across the country. Most courses open to the general public are in humanities, languages (including English as a second language), computing, literature, social studies and the arts. We are the largest voluntary sector provider of adult education in Britain and provide learning opportunities for over 80,000 people each year. We run courses in all nine English Regions and in Scotland and employ over three thousand part-time tutors. We create and deliver courses in response to local need. Most of our courses are short (most commonly 10 weekly sessions) day or evening classes at local venues.

We welcome all adults and create friendly and supportive learning environments in which you can engage freely and equally with tutors and other learners. You can also become involved in organising and planning your own learning.

If you have a disability or a learning difficulty, we will do our best to provide specialist staff and resources to help you succeed on your course. If you are on benefits or have a low income you can apply to the Learner Support Fund for support to attend a WEA course.
