WAES student Veronica Richards found a whole new career after enrolling with the service. Having left school at 14 and with no qualifications and with little confidence in her basic reading and writing, Veronica found everyday life difficult until she joined a basic literacy class at WAES.

'Before, everything was difficult; forms were a nightmare, letters were hard. I couldn’t even help my children with their homework. The course opened up a new world for me. The teachers were brilliant, I could sit down with them one to one'.

Realising she had hidden talents Veronica took classes in make-up for film and television and things really took off. Having successfully completed her course she is now working freelance in the industry and has recently worked on major BBC productions.
