This course is for those with an interest in and commitment to engineering. This course is also ideal as a 'taster' of engineering, or for those thinking about an apprenticeship. The curriculum covers electrical, electronic & mechanical engineering. You will learn aspects of Oxygen and Acetylene, welding and cutting, MIG/MAGS and TIG/TAGS, and Electric Arc Welding. It is a highly practical course and much of the learning takes place in our modern workshops, with additional training in the drawing office and classroom. Subjects: Assembling electronic components, Developing yourself and working with other people on engineering activities, Engineering machinery, Making components using hand and fitting techniques, Wiring electrical circuits Working safely in an engineering environment.
You will need to attend an interview at the College and take an initial assessment test, assistance will be provided if required. You should have a good standard of literacy and numeracy. Additional help with maths and English is provided if required.
