War Studies is a multidisciplinary department devoted to the study of all aspects of war and conflict and the broad remit of international relations; the Department of War Studies has an excellent reputation as a graduate training institution and is recognised by the Economic and Social Sciences Research Council (ESRC) and Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) as a training institution for Politics, International Relations, and Military and International History; all MPhil/PhD candidates undertake a tailored programme of research training and development through all three years of the programme; the department is especially interested in receiving applications from students planning their research projects in fields that will enhance the strength of the department's research groups, centres and programmes.
