Course Description
Veterinary Nursing is a vocation and students must love animals and be prepared to make a strong commitment to the time of very hard work that it takes to achieve both stages of this qualification. Training is practical and theoretical and includes cleanliness of the surgeries, consulting rooms and animal cages, assisting at consultations and operations, post-operative care and also reception duties. Learners must be employed at a Veterinary Practice which is an Approved Training Centre.On completion of the qualification nurses can put the initials V.N. after their name and will be placed on the list of Veterinary Nurses maintained by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Learners must complete the Apprenticeship and the Advanced Apprenticeship.
Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at Grades A - C including English, Maths and a Science. The RCVS also recognise some equivalent qualifications - details on request.
