This intensive course will give you the skills to be able to value and appraise all types of jewellery, infill diamonds, enhanced and synthetically treated stones and will also cover the legal requirements for this. Valuing and pricing of mounts will also be included. There will be a session devoted to the latest technology for valuations, including the IBM appraiser Guild of Valuers, and the Jewellers Guild programme and the use of digital photography. The Valuers Guide' will be used, you will be shown how to assess gemstone colour, and how to apply the grading to universal pricing of all gemstones and pearls. You will receive course notes for all sessions and will have the opportunity to compile working notes, which will be explained, practiced and used on all valuations. This course presumes knowledge of the jewellery industry, and will be of specific interest to retailers, auctioneers, pawnbrokers and those involved in antiques. It includes instruction, practice and practical hands-on work enabling you to build a working portfolio. Michael Norman is widely esteemed in the jewellery industry as a trainer and valuer. He has extensive experience teaching Jewellery Valuation and Appraisal for both the School of Jewellery and the National Association of Goldsmiths.
