In the RAE 2009, 75 per cent of research submitted by Winchester was considered internationally recognised, with some research achieving the highest grade possible (4*) and a rating of ‘quality that is world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour’. History at Winchester performed particularly strongly in the RAE, with 90 per cent of research considered internationally recognised.
