Intro
We are a dynamic, modern University with a growing reputation for teaching and research. We are proud to be the best 'new' university in the UK for overall quality, quantity and range of research.
We are highly successful in preparing graduates for employment. Official performance indicators show that over 90 per cent of full-time first degree students get a job or go on to further study within six months of graduating. Sunderland has been recognised as offering 'The best student experience in England' by a student survey in the THES. We offer a truly life-changing experience.
Sunderland is quickly becoming one of the most thriving cities in the country, with a buzzing nightlife, wonderful coastline and countryside and ambitious plans for the future.
What's on Offer
There are two main campuses – Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter’s (named one of the top five campuses in the UK with a 'wow' factor) and City Campus – both close to central Sunderland.
The University has four faculties: Applied Sciences, Arts, Design & Media, Business & Law, Education & Society. Our subject areas are business, law, psychology, computing, engineering, education, health/nursing, social and sport sciences, environment, pharmacy, arts, performing arts, design, history, english, geography, media, tourism and combined subjects.
State-of-the-art facilities include one of the best media centres in Europe, The Gateway, a hub for student support, advice and welfare, and a new science park development, which will help graduates to set up their own businesses. Currently £75 million is being spent on the City Campus creating CitySpace - an iconic sport and recreation facility with a 6 court sports hall, a climbing wall and a 70-station fitness suite (opening Sept 2009), a high quality hotel and conferencing, and new student accommodation.
