University Of Hull Overview
The University of Hull began as a college of the University of London in 1928, achieving independence in 1954 – England's fourteenth university. The University offers the best of both worlds, with two Yorkshire campuses; the vibrant and friendly city of Hull, and the lively seaside resort of Scarborough. Both are surrounded by beautiful countryside.
What's on Offer
The University is split into eight key areas: the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, the Faculty of Science and the Environment, the Postgraduate Medical School, the Faculty of Health and Social Science, the Hull Business School, the Institute for Learning and the Hull York Medical School.
Hull offers a wide range of programmes across traditional and non-traditional areas. In the most recent TQA assessments, Drama and Electronic Engineering both scored the maximum 24, while American Studies, Biological Sciences, Business and Management, Physics, Politics, Psychology and Theology all scored 23, widely accepted as the standard of excellence.
The University's library complex contains over a million books and periodicals, and works closely with the 24-hour access Computer Centre and Language Institute to create a great environment to study. Other facilities include the Sports and Fitness Centre, the Gulbenkian Theatre and the Business School, complete with world-class amenities.
Ranked 5th in the recent National Student Survey, the University of Hull has excellent student support services, which include accommodation, the advice centre, counselling and academic supervisors.
Short listed for The Times ‘University of the Year’ award, Hull was also voted one of the top five universities in the UK for friendliness by website, Friends Reunited, and placed in the country's top 10 most attractive universities in a survey published by The Times Higher.
