The origins of the University of Dundee go back to 1881, with the founding of University College, Dundee. The College then had a 70-year relationship with the University of St Andrews before it became an independent institution in 1967. It is now a firmly established university, with a world-class reputation in teaching and research.
The University of Dundee has over 18,000 students, supported by over 3000 staff. Sixteen percent of the University’s students are international, coming from over 80 countries worldwide. We pride ourselves on providing outstanding support for international students and, according to the latest International Student Barometer, 88 percent are satisfied or very satisfied with the support they receive from Dundee.
Our students also enjoy the benefits of studying at a university consistently placed in the UK top 10 for graduate employment. As well as this, Dundee was shortlisted for the Sunday Times University of the Year 2008 and ranks 1st in Scotland and 5th in the UK for all-round student experience according to the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2010.
Compared to other Scottish cities, Dundee boasts more sunshine, lower rainfall and a warmer climate due to its sheltered location on the coast. The majority of students live on or near the campus and benefit from easy access to Scotland’s beautiful countryside.
