In this programme, accounting techniques and concepts underpin the management decision making process, whilst the study of theoretical and practical management skills enables the accurate interpretation of financial data to promote common business aims and objectives. All students study core accounting subjects before focusing on more specialist areas. Management is also taught via a range of modules - some core and some optional - with students being given the opportunity to evaluate their own skills as managers, as well as studying the principles of modern management: managing people, resources, information and change. Management is concerned with the problems and issues that confront practising managers and the ways in which these problems can be analysed and resolved. These courses will provide you with an exciting and stimulating experience and will serve to enhance your intellectual capabilities. Our distinctive approach to the study of management will enable you to develop your communication, interpersonal, group working and learning skills in a way that encourages you to draw on both the theory and practice of management. Particular emphasis will be placed on helping you to learn to manage your own development and to build a commitment and competence which will serve you well as you progress in your career. The courses examine current theoretical and practical issues and speakers from a wide range of organisations are regularly invited. You will also have the opportunity to spend time in professional business environments to witness how managers respond to their day to day issues.
