Course Description
Photography has traditionally been considered an exceptional medium, not only one which was available to artistic appropriation but one which, as a medium itself, by way of its verisimilitude, redefined the terms of engagement between artist, image, and spectator. This course will investigate the work of over 40 artists, and their engagement with photography as a conceptual medium, from Bruce Nauman, to Cindy Sherman and beyond, from the 1960s to the present day.
