Course Description
Artists have sought for ways of representing the features, characters, thoughts and feelings of their contemporaries since ancient times and in so doing, have often captured something of the essence of the societies in which they have lived and worked. This course will investigate the representation of the human form in art, from antiquity until the present day - and, in so doing, will reflect upon the different ways in which human societies have visualised and understood themselves.
