Course Description
Work by a variety of painters will be included in the course - from Bosch's 'infernal' landscapes to Samuel Palmer's ecstatic meditations. We will look at groups of paintings under headings such as grandeur, elemental power, meditation, and violence. What has the artist chosen to express, and how has the expression been achieved? Does it reflect sources in poetry, history or religious traditions - or does it appear as simply the artist's response to landscape itself? Our focus will be on specific paintings, including work by Poussin, Turner, Gericault and Munch.
Course Fees
Normal fee: £214.00. Non-resident fee: £133.00.
