Course Description
How was Celtic Britain transformed by the Romans? What was the distinctive Romano-British culture that emerged as a result of Britain becoming part of the Roman Empire, and what evidence of this is available to us? Join us as we examine life in Britain before, during and after the Roman invasion. Your tutor will provide examples of Roman coins and artefacts which demonstrate the impact of Rome on Celtic Britain, and you will examine the effects of the invasion on life in the town and countryside, on crafts and industries, the arrival of temples and shrines, and the building of forts and fortresses. A must for all those fascinated by our Roman past!
