Course Description
Through the act of drawing we learn to see and understand the world around us. This practical drawing course is designed to develop observational skills and a personal visual language to enable the analysis, interpretation and communication of visual data and experience. The course will cover a range of techniques and media and include still life, landscape, portraiture and life drawing. Workshop sessions with group and individual tuition will be underpinned by individual research study and practice, for which guidance will be given. You are expected to take advantage of galleries and museums locally and in London, and there will be a class trip to the National Gallery in London. There is no assumption that you have previously undertaken formal study in art - enthusiasm is more important than experience.
Course Fees
The 2008 tuition fee for the full eight-week Summer School (36 credits) is £2,050; or £1,080 for one 18 credit, four-week course. In addition, some courses have a lab fee or a field trip fee. We must receive an application fee of £100 by 1 April 2008, which is not refundable unless a course is cancelled. Payment in full (less the £100 application fee) is required by 15 June 2008. Payment for accommodation (£86/week or £113/week) is also required by 15 June. Students must submit the relevant fees by the required date in order to register. Sussex does not offer facilities for deferred payment of fees.

Venue Description
Childcare facilities are available on site. Early booking of sessions is strongly recommended due to high demand of limited places. Guidance and advice may be available for all aspects of student life. Facilities/Support are available for students with learning difficulties.
