Course Description
The ways in which we analyse visual culture are now more complex than in previous decades. Fine art practice is now viewed as part of a wider visual culture, and as part of a social and economic network. This course explores how we think about it and where these ideas originate; how it is displayed and written about; and what role it might have today. Informal talks, seminars and visits to galleries will provide the learning experience, culminating in a critical review of a gallery display seen at first hand or a piece of public art. (This course is subject to approval).
