Course Description
The main aim of this course is to enable you to generate ideas and concepts in response to assignments or self initiated activity; use lateral thinking approaches to problem solving; select and use materials and processes creatively; and apply entrepreneurial skills and resourcefulness to support your own Fine Arts practice. The modules have been chosen expressly to ensure that this will be a distinctive and exciting programme of study enabling you to independently develop your own creative identity and develop the ability as an artist to position your work within an appropriate critical discourse and context in relation to contemporary practice.The course results in a final degree show presentation which is intended to demonstrate, for assessment and to the wider public, the skills, concerns and potential of the student.

Assessment method
Assessment is through a series of set assignments, tutorials, observations, portfolio review, self/peer assessment and exhibition work.
Entry Requirements
To qualify for this programme you must have 140 UCAS points from one or more of the following: A-level passes (1 art based) supported by 3 GCSE passes at grade A-C; BTEC National Diploma (Graphics, Fine Art, GAD) with an overall grade PPM or an overall grade PPP plus one Level 3 Key Skill award; AVCE Double Award (Art & Design) grade CD; or have passed the Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design; Every applicant is offered an interview. At interview your portfolio should exhibit a wide range of applied skills and demonstrate evidence of creative potential; Many 18 and 19 year old students join this programme after completing an A-level, AVCE or a BTEC National Diploma course, then a Foundation programme; Mature students who may not have formal qualifications are encouraged to apply for an interview where they will be considered on a portfolio of work as well as their enthusiasm and commitment to working for a degree in Fine Art.
