Course Description
This course bridges the gap between A Levels and undergraduate courses in all areas of Art and Design and is a recognised course by the universities. Stage One Units: Information and Research - Recording and Responding - Media Experimentation. This stage gives priority to the exploration of a wide range of media, materials and visual thinking. Stage Two Units: Information and Interpretation - Combined Experimental Studies - Media Development - Preparation and Progression. This stage is flexible and allows an increasing move towards your chosen direction within 1 of the 4 main areas: Fine Art - 3-D Design - Visual Communication - Fashion/Textile Design. Stage Three Units Integrating Theory and Practice - Personal Confirmatory Study. In this stage you will undertake study to produce a body of work primarily on your own initiative within an Art and Design specialism of your choice. A public exhibition of work celebrates student achievement at the end of the course.The course offers: Opportunities for experimenting with a wide range of materials and techniques, developing your individuality, initiative and confidence - Progression onto specialist Art and Design studies at higher education level - Is concerned with the development of a personal visual language - Allows creative expression and problem solving skills - Includes a programme of lectures and seminars that introduce the historical and contemporary aspects of Art and Design - Is further developed by visits to galleries and a residential trip usually in the first term.
Entry Requirements
A strong GCSE profile with A Level or AVCE or National Diploma equivalent. - Be over the age of 18 by 1 September of the year of entry. - All UK applicants will be invited to attend an interview with a porfolio of work. - Applications from mature students (21+) with relevant work experience and international students are welcome, and are considered on merit.Interviews will be held during the Spring and Summer terms. You will be informed of the outcome of your interview there and then.
