Course Description
Level Zero offers a direct route onto a number of Ravensbourne degree and foundation degree courses. It is designed for those who would like to pursue a career in the creative industries and in particular for those whose portfolio of creative work in their chosen discipline would benefit from a year of intensive study before beginning the first level of an undergraduate course. This course will provide you with a focused introduction to design and communication in a creative, stimulating Higher Education setting. It is the first year of a three or four year Higher Education experience. Upon completion of the course you will have the necessary knowledge and skills to begin your first year (Level 1) of a foundation or honours degree level course with confidence. When you enrol for this course you will apply for your chosen degree 'pathway': BA (Hons) Design for Interaction BA (Hons) Fashion BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures BA (Hons) Product Design. Foundation Degree (Science) Broadcast Media Technology Foundation Degree (Arts) Broadcast Operations and Production Foundation Degree (Arts) Broadcast Post Production Foundation Degree (Arts) Creative Sound Design You will be introduced to the processes of design and communication media, and given a practical and theoretical grounding in design skills, technological skills, digital and audio-visual technologies that are relevant for successful progression within your chosen pathway. Progression from Level Zero to Level 1 of your chosen foundation or honours degree is automatic, provided that you successfully pass all units of the Level Zero course. There may be the opportunity to apply for progression to an alternative degree course, by negotiation with your personal tutor, if you can demonstrate potential for success in a different subject specialism in an interview.
