Course Description
This course will develop individual creativity while introducing the student to the world of work with the Arts and Crafts industry. There are facilities for 2D and 3D Applied Arts, including ceramics, glass, jewellery, constructed textiles, and print, together with IT and photographic labs. The course is underpinned by visual and critical studies. Students develop an understanding of visual communication as well as knowledge of the historical and contextual aspect of design and constructed craft products. Studies are project led and supported by practitioners. Throughout the course, students will be supported in gaining work experience along with studies in business and professional practice. The course culminates in a Final Major Project related to the individual student’s specialist area of study with a final exhibition. On successful completion of this course students can apply to a relevant one-year top-up Honours degree.

Entry Requirements
80 UCAS points - normally one A-level or average merit grade at National Diploma. In addition, all candidates will be expected to present passes at minimum grade C in 3 GCSEs (to include maths and English), or equivalent. For applicants whose first language is not English you will need IELTS (Academic) 6.0 or equivalent. Mature entry is actively encouraged and relevant work experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications. Prospective students will be required to attend an interview with a portfolio of artwork.
