Course Description
Some of the most popular and enduring films are animated, and for many people an animated film is their first introduction to the wider world of movies. This course introduces animation as a movie form, giving students the opportunity to view and analyse the ways in which animated films offer their own distinct view of the world. From the work of the Disney Studios, Hayao Miyazaki, the Fleischer Brothers and Winsor McCay to the less familiar work of The Brothers Quay, Michel Ocelot and Frederic Back, this course considers how animated films can subvert our sense of the world and how they can offer thoughtful social comment.
Course Fees
The 2008 tuition fee for the full eight-week Summer School (36 credits) is £2,050; or £1,080 for one 18 credit, four-week course. In addition, some courses have a lab fee or a field trip fee. We must receive an application fee of £100 by 1 April 2008, which is not refundable unless a course is cancelled. Payment in full (less the £100 application fee) is required by 15 June 2008. Payment for accommodation (£86/week or £113/week) is also required by 15 June. Students must submit the relevant fees by the required date in order to register. Sussex does not offer facilities for deferred payment of fees.

Venue Description
Childcare facilities are available on site. Early booking of sessions is strongly recommended due to high demand of limited places.
