Course Description
The programme is very applied and designed to meet the needs of land based industries. The modules have been designed so that students can develop general agricultural skills yet they still provide the opportunity for specialist interest areas to be developed. There is every opportunity for students to develop their individual personal skills throughout the programme and take additional qualifications. The first year provides a thorough grounding in business and agricultural production. Basic scientific principles related to agriculture are explored and developed. Good use is made of the specialist laboratory facilities. Every opportunity is taken to use the farm and all of its modern resources. There is a clear focus on agricultural production systems and recognition of good practice during this time. In the second year a choice of option modules enables the student to pursue their own particular specialist areas of interest. The skills to manage a successful rural business are a main theme during this year.

Assessment method
Your progress is monitored by a variety of assessment techniques including a planned programme of written assignments, presentations, group work, practical assessments and in-class tests. A major integrated assignment and work placement must be completed as part of the Foundation Degree programmes.
