The course is designed for the professional development of physicians whose work involves the diagnosis and management of the major parasitic and communicable diseases of the tropics; it suits: physicians who have trained in medicine in a developed country but intend to practise in the tropics; physicians already practising in developing countries who require an update on infectious, parasitic and other health problems; and doctors in developed countries who need to diagnose and manage imported infections; the course is recognised as fulfilling part of the requirements for the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Certificate in Travel Medicine.
