About this course

The course aims to allow students to critically evaluate the principles and relevant theory of trauma surgery, in relation to resuscitation, critical care, immediate life saving surgery and reconstructive surgery, allied with the process of healing which underpin these; students critically review the skills to coordinate and, where appropriate, deliver or lead the management of the trauma patient from injury to recovery; the course examines the evolution of trauma surgery, and forecasts possible perspectives on future development; students discuss the knowledge, skills and competencies that are necessary, in conjunction with appropriate advice and support, to undertake their own research; design an outline research protocol, identifying an appropriate research method and method of analysis for a health care research project; plus dissertation.
