Course Description
This course covers the following core courses: Transnational Communications and Global Media 1: overview. This provides an introduction to contemporary developments in media industries and cultures; Transnational communications and Global Media 2: Researching the Global media - This follows on directly from Transnational communications and Global Media 1 and is concerned with research approaches to global media; Researching Media and Culture: Issues of method and three options from those offered by the Media and communications department or by the Anthropology, English and Comparative Literature, and Sociology Departments. Options vary, recently offered are: Explorations in World cinema; Political economy of the Mass Media; Hollywood Cinema since the 1960s; Contemporary Cultural Practice; Music as Communication and Creative practice; Embodiment and Experience; Reconceptualising Media Audiences.

Assessment method
Essays; oral presentation and 2-3,000-word project paper; dissertation of 10-12,000 words.
Entry Requirements
First degree of at least second class standard in a relevant discipline. If your degree is in an unrelated field, you may also be considered subject to a qualifying examination; we may ask any applicant to take this. If first language is not English, you need a minimum score of 7.0 in IELTS.
