In addition to providing learning to approximately 6000 adult students, THC is home to one of London’s highest rated 6th Form Colleges, as ranked by the London College League tables. In 2007 our students achieved an exceptional 95% A-Level pass rate, with 100% pass achievement in 21 subject areas, including vocational subjects. The College has been successful in gaining above national average pass rates over many years, with a record number of students progressing onto a range of high profile universities such as Cambridge, LSE, Queen Mary, UCL, Goldsmiths and to specialised universities like Loughborough, SOAS and Ravensbourne. Our learners achieved 616.5 UCAS points in 2007 compared to the 558.45 of the London average as stated on the London College league table 2008.

However, THC is not just a 6th Form College. The majority of our students are over 19 and they benefit from our many campuses, which provide learning throughout the borough. Our Arbour Square campus is dedicated to adult learners who are studying Access, Pathway, Youth & Community and Skills for Life. Our site at Bethnal Green is mainly for ESOL and evening courses, Poplar campus provides superb facilities for hair and beauty whilst many of our outreach courses our hosted in community centres and other local venues. This enables easy access to learning, no matter where you live!

In addition, THC was selected to be London’s flagship centre for the National Skills Academy for Financial Services in September 2006. Based at our East India Dock Road site, The Academy provides futuristic facilities to compete with any corporate environment. So whether you are already in the Financial services industry and wish to update your skills in order to further you career, or if you are looking for a route into the world of finance, then come and talk to us. Employers in Canary Wharf and The City are already committed to working with our students, many giving advice and support with courses, mentoring, work placements, career development and training.

The Employment Solutions team at THC is also based at East India Dock Road. Helping people to find employment by providing job skills training, they can assist you in developing CV writing and job interview techniques. They also provide a recruitment service for many local employers, so can help you in finding the job or career you deserve!

We have experienced, specialised, friendly and approachable student advisors who are highly trained in dealing with any issues that you need help with. Whether you could benefit from counselling on emotional matters, to advise on housing, immigration or student grants, our advisors are there to help you. We have a bilingual team of advisors with years of experience. They are there to make our students life in the college enjoyable and problem free.

We offer one of the most diverse course listings around, from Filmmaking to Economics, Beauty Therapy to Music Technology, Politics to Media, Sport to Health Sciences, to speak of but a few! We are an ‘outstanding’ College, as stated on the recent government Ofsted inspection and have also been awarded Beacon Status. Our achievements are well above the national average and our facilities and student support are second to none!

THC is strongly focused on supporting our students and meeting each individual requirement. Our Key Skills Area located in the Learning Centres is there to provide additional support to learners who want extra help with their work, no matter what course they are doing. The Key Skills workshops run throughout the day and after class, with highly qualified and trained learning mentors ready to help you with your college work.
