Tiara School Overview

Tiara School Overview Image

The Tiara School offers students the unique opportunity of creating their own tiaras and bead jewellery in a series of inspirational one day courses held in Dorset or London.

Courses are small, expert and friendly with a minimum of two and maximum of eight students to enable students to receive lots of individual attention. They can be taken singly or combined together to give a thorough grounding in the art of Bridal accessory making. Tuition is high quality and the days are packed with useful information and tips on construction, design, tools, materials and suppliers. Students are actively encouraged to express their individual creativity by making their own unique pieces rather than being constrained by all making the same design.

Dorset courses are held on the Isle of Portland in the Creative Wave studio. Situated on the cliff top in the old water tower, the studio has spectacular views over the World Heritage Jurassic coastline towards Lyme Bay and Lulworth Cove- an inspirational and unusual venue. Portland is connected to the mainland by a road so students don't need to swim! Courses run on average twice a month between February and November.

Local accommodation is available and students often spend extra time on the Island after the course or bring their families who go off and explore the beautiful Dorset countryside. Please note the Dorset venue is on the first floor and has no Disabled access.

London courses are held in Kingsbury NW9 at Roe Green Primary School and run every few months between March and November. Disabled access is available at this venue.

All tools are provided for the courses, as well as there being a selection of inspirational sparkling beads and useful tools for purchase. Tea, coffee and biscuits are on hand all day but students need to bring lunch at both venues.

Level 1 courses are suitable for complete beginners as well as students who have some previous experience of jewellery making. Students need to complete the Level 1 courses before they take Level 2.

Tutor Andrea Frankham-Hughes has been creating for over 20 years with a background in theatre, prop making and window display and has been a professional tiara designer for over a decade. She has designed and produced ranges for Virgin Bride, Jigsaw, Jigsaw Junior and Kiss the Frog. Her work has been featured in top London stores, photo shoots and magazines and Madonna bought one of her tiaras for her daughter Lourdes.
