This degree programme is designed to provide students with a mix of practical design skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for a career as a 3-dimensional animator; this course appeals to students who wish to combine their traditional art skills with cutting edge creative technology in 3-dimensional animation combined with digital video and motion graphics; the course is practically focused and provides the student with the opportunity to develop a significant digital media portfolio.
Year 1: Core modules; design process; 2-dimensional design; digital design; 3-dimensional visualisation; digital video; design context. Year 2: Core modules; animation; 3-dimensional modelling; portfolio production; interactive media programming; motion graphics. Year 3: Core modules; lighting and rendering techniques; advanced animation; individual project; group project; advanced portfolio production; advanced 3-dimensional modelling. Year 4: Core modules; project; real-time 3-dimensional graphics; technical animation; industrial project.
