This is a vocational qualification combining workplace learning and academic study designed to meet the requirements of employers in developing counselling and psychological knowledge and skills applicable to the workplace. Students will develop professionally as a Counselling practitioner. They will develop their knowledge and skills in the study and application of a variety of Counselling & Psychological models of therapeutic treatment. Work placement: Students will have to apply for suitable placement during their 1st year and they will provide counselling under clinical supervision. The course requires completion of 100 supervised counselling hours. Course content: Theory - Psychodynamic Integrative and Intercultural Therapeutic counselling skills Professional development Practitioner workshops and supervision Personal development: sessions of personal therapy/ counselling over the 2 years (15 sessions in year 1 and 25 sessions in year 2). After this course: Employment individual BACP Counsellor Accreditation and/or further specialist training or progression to Higher Education.
Students need to have a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (90 hours) and Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (90 hours) or equivalent. A tutor reference will be required. A Criminal Record Declaration on enrolment and a CRB check post enrolment is required.
