This award develop students� technical and creative skills to reach the professional standards of art directors and production designers working in the film and television industry; it incorporates theory and history of film and design, along with a practical approach to art direction; the design process starts with: breaking down scripts/text or from a brief; developing initial concepts and visualising; storyboarding; producing scale models, studio plans and construction drawings (manually and computer-aided design (CAD) assisted); assignments are structured around single or multi-camera productions and range from light entertainment to period drama and science fiction; students develop an awareness of drawing, technical drawing and model making to support the design process; they have many opportunities to experience practical art directing through collaborative film-making; a close relationship with the film and television industry is a key part of the course, where students learn through visits to live studio performances, construction companies and work placements; students on this course are part of a scheme called it�s my shout; produced by Harlech Television (HTV), these are collaborative productions with a crew of professionals and students.
