This is a fully professional, competence based qualification. Centre experience of delivering this and related OCR qualifications extends over 15 years.The course will enable candidates to:- identify and assess the needs of Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties;- plan, deliver, review and evaluate teaching programmes in both individual and small group settings.Routes:- continued professional development for teachers working in this area;- accreditation of skills and knowledge at Level 5 of the National Qualifications Framework;- opportunity to progress to OCR Level 7 Certificate and Diploma in Assessing and Teaching Learners with SpLD, and to MEd.
This qualification is aimed at those who may not have had previous experience of SpLD. It has been designed primarily for practising teachers, although Educational Psychologists and Speech Therapists may be eligible to enrol. Applications are invited from: - Classroom Teachers/Learning Support Staff- Learning Support Tutors/Trainers in FE/HE- Qualified Teachers working independently- Speech and Language Therapists. Applicants should hold a Degree and must hold a recognised Teaching Qualification. Classroom experience is desirable.
