Tate Modern, at Bankside in London (nearest Tube: Southwark; nearest Train station: Blackfriars), is Britain's national museum of international modern art. Created in the year 2000, the gallery displays works from 1990 to the present day. Major exhibitions, as well as the gallery's innovative thematic displays, form an ideal starting point from which the courses explore diverse interpretations of works of art as well as to debate the relationship of politics, philosophy and technology to all aspects of visual culture. Creative workshops encourage participants to investigate these current themes in their own practice. The emphasis is to challenge, stimulate and surprise in a supported learning environment that encourages discussion and debate. Discussions continue over a complimentary glass of wine at the bar in Café 2 after all evening courses.
