Foundation in Early Years

Swindon College launched a new Foundation Degree in Eary Years, and Jan Woodward was one of the first graduates from the programme. Jan enrolled on to the course as she wanted to take the next step after completing her NVQ 3 in Child Care and Education. Jan is a manager of a playgroup, and wanted to get a qualification to go with her position.

Returning to education was daunting, but Jan settled in well and realised that she had made the right choice by coming to study at Swindon College. One of the most enjoyable units for Jan was visiting schools, as Jan learnt valuable skills, and now implements them in her playgroup. When Jan was asked about her time at the college, she said, 'I had lots of support from my mentor. My time at Swindon College was enjoyable and rewarding. When I look at my degree photo, I still can't believe I did it.'
