Swansea Metropolitan University is one of the newest universities in the United Kingdom and received its university title in January 2008.
Formerly known as Swansea Institute, it has been a major centre for the delivery of vocational higher education for more than one hundred and fifty years.
Its School of Art was established in 1853 and teacher education in 1872.

Swansea Metropolitan University is one of the most affordable universities in the UK. According a cost-of-living survey published by The Independent newspaper in November 2007, Swansea Met made it into their top ten most affordable universities at which to study anywhere in the country.
Fees and Funding
If you live 45 miles or more away from Swansea you’re eligible to claim free non-means tested cashback of £500 per year. That’s £1,500 over the period of a three year degree scheme. The award is paid into you bank account in February of each year and you are free to spend it as you see fit.
National Bursary
This bursary award is means-tested and available regardless of where you come from in the UK. That’s more than £900 over the period of a three year degree scheme.
