Course Description
This course explores the application of sustainable environmental design at the level of the city and the individual building. It is addressed to graduates in architecture, engineering and related professional disciplines who wish to develop the new design skills needed for responding to the varied and complex challenges leading to sustainable development. Experimental work and the use of new technology form an integral part of the course. The MSc programme's studio-based design projects have continued exploring the evolving relationship between form and performance, especially the dynamic and adaptive potential of the building envelope in different climatic contexts and building types. The course is divided into two terms. Term 1 includes the following: Energy, Environment, Architecture and the City; Environmental Design in Practice; and Design Support Tools. Term 2 includes the following: Materials and Technology; Leading Practitioners; and Advanced Modelling and Simulation.

Entry Requirements
Professional degree or diploma in architecture, engineering or a related discipline. Overseas students from non-English speaking countries will be asked to demonstrate their fluency in written and spoken English, and will be required to pass the IELTS examination with a grade of not less that 6.5
