Course Description
This course is primarily for graduates of the Built Environment: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Planning & Building Services etc. The underlying concern, on which the programme rests, is with energy consumption; building accounts for half the UK's total energy consumption, for instance. Students will explore both the external and internal environments: from the exploitation of forests, emissions, depletion of the ozone, to waste disposal and a plethora of life threatening illnesses & discomfort, connected with pathogens & carcinogens, attendant on the internal environment. The course considers the tools available to alleviate the above cited environmental & health problems, such as design methods, alternative & hi tech technologies, alongside relevant legislation. There are eight taught modules and a Project, including; Low Energy Design, Buildings & Health, The Global Environment, Contemporary Sustainable Architecture, The Use of Resources & Materials and Study Skills.

Entry Requirements
First degree in built environment discipline (2:2) preferably with practical experience. Direct entry, without a first degree will only be considered in very exceptional circumstances.
