The course has been developed in conjunction with firms in the subsea industry and designed for both experienced and recently graduated engineers wishing to develop their subsea knowledge; comprises multi-disciplinary teaching, site visits, industrially based projects and guest speakers to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of the course.
Compulsory modules (120 credits) are delivered in short intensive schools with time after the module to complete the assignments where applicable; modules include: fundamentals of subsea engineering; design and manufacture of pipelines, umbilicals and risers; materials and corrosion aspects of subsea engineering; subsea control and communication systems; advanced operations management; deepwater pipeline design; subsea project management application; subsea surveying, positioning and installation; reliability and integrity management of subsea systems; dynamics of subsea installations; also research project leading to a dissertation (60 credits) supported by an academic supervisor and may be conducted with an industrial partner such as an employer where appropriate.
