Stanmore
Adult College is a small, friendly college rooted firmly in the local
community. The College has been providing a wide variety of courses
(professional, vocational, non-vocational and recreational) to the
public for over 30 years and last year alone more than 10,000 people
chose to enrol here.
Stanmore
Adult College often receives enquiries from people who want to enrol on
a course but do not know what it is they want to do or are not sure if
the course they have chosen is right for them. The
Stanmore
College therefore provides well-trained and welcoming staff who can
give all the information, advice and guidance students may need to help
them make the choice that is right for them. The College’s teaching
staff aim to make learning fun and give feedback and support to help
students achieve their learning potential. By enrolling on one or more
of
Stanmore
College’s courses, students can gain new qualifications, develop new
skills and discover new hobbies. This in turn can facilitate a change in
career direction, increase personal confidence and give people the
opportunity to have fun and make new friends.
What’s on offer
Stanmore
College has been awarded CoVE (Centre of Vocational Excellence) status
in Early Years in recognition of outstanding achievements in teaching
and examination results within its Early Years Department.
CoVEs are specialist areas of vocational provision characterised by
close links between colleges, other providers, business partners,
employers and the community.
Stanmore
College is one of only 14 colleges in the country to achieve a Centre
of Vocational Excellence in Early Years and the only college in North
West London.
In other areas too,
Stanmore
College has built up a splendid reputation in North West London and
this has been reflected in the successful outcome of inspections carried
out in 2003 by OFSTED (The Office for Standards in Education) and ALI
(Adult Learning Inspectorate). The positive results of the inspections
highlighted the following key strengths: good support given by teachers
to students, improvements in the quality of teaching, responsiveness of
the curriculum provision and a clear vision of the future of
Stanmore College. The report commented that 'adult students feel well supported and know where to obtain help if they need it.'
