This course is designed as a graduate route into the sports rehabilitation profession; it develops the knowledge, skills and understanding required to function effectively in a range of positions in this industry; the degree includes a variety of excellent work placement opportunities at professional sports clubs, physiotherapy clinics and orthopaedic clinics and the applied nature of this course is emphasised throughout the programme; students are expected to develop their understanding and application from both theoretical and vocational perspectives; a large proportion of the course involves practical laboratory and clinical work and skills relevant to the workplace and lifelong learning are developed throughout; the course is accredited by the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers, the professional body for Graduate Sports Rehabilitators.
Examples include: Therapeutic skills; clinical anatomy; principles of biomechanics; research methods 1 and 2; musculo-skeletal injury; spinal anatomy; physiology and pathology; sport and exercise nutrition; counselling injured athletes; theory and practice of therapeutic modalities; injury prevention and functional rehabilitation; clinical experience; advanced clinical skills; neurology and tissue dynamics; fitness testing and exercise prescription; project.
