You have the opportunity to gain a more in depth knowledge of sewing, felt making, weaving, dyeing, batik, silk painting, spinning and lots more.
Join us in our light and airy Chorlton garden studio and make the most of our custom built, well equipped studio full of inspirational books and examples for you to peruse.
Discover the satisfaction of producing your own yarn which is unique and beautiful. We will combine fleece and other fibres and materials to create wonderful, colourful and textured yarns in traditional and non-traditional ways. You will have the opportunity to learn the basics of spinning, how to use a drop spindle and spinning wheel, and make your own drop spindle. You will be shown how to sort a fleece and have a go at carding it into rolags ready for spinning. A spinning wheel will be available for you try spinning and plying yarn on. We will also look at and compare different fibres and fleeces that are available and other spinning equipment. Spinning is a rhythmic and meditative process which can be a calming experience that is soothing for the soul. This course is suitable for beginners.
