You may like to consider this subject if you: - want to add a language GCSE to your achievements - want to try out Spanish for possible study at university - just enjoy learning a new language - have already studied Spanish but did not get as far as the exam - wish to improve on your GCSE grade. There are 4 lessons per week, at least one in the language laboratory. The course is intensive and places emphasis on the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing - you will hear Spanish spoken in class and on tape and video and DVD. Lessons will focus on everyday life in Spain and other Spanish speaking countries. You will learn about the following topic areas: - Media and culture - Sport and leisure - Travel and tourism - Business, work and employment How will I be assessed? An exam will be taken at the end of the year in reading, listening and speaking. There will be two separate, internally assessed writing tasks.
