South Essex College of Further & Higher Education College is located across three main campuses in Basildon, Southend and Thurrock. At present the majority of our higher education courses are offered at our Southend Campus, with some being offered at our Thurrock Campus. The Southend Campus is located in central Southend; as a modern, well-equipped college it offers an economical alternative to studying in London, as well as an attractive seaside location.

Since its beginnings in 1899 as the 'Day Art School', South Essex College has built a strong reputation as a provider of good quality, vocational education, geared to the workplace, with strengths in art and media subjects. The College is a Microsoft Academy offering provision in ICT Solutions providing a wide range of vendor certified courses. The media centre photography studio has been chosen as a Nikon Academy allowing students to benefit from training seminars featuring Nikon experts and the latest technology. Additionally the TV studios are sponsored by Sony providing the latest equipment and most recently the College has been awarded Apple Mac Academy status. This demonstrates some of the industry links available within South Essex College.

The College relocated in 2004 to a brand new, purpose-built, 26,000m2 building with an inspirational architectural design and superb new facilities, including a 250-seater 'performance pod' within a spacious atrium.
 
What's on Offer
The College has worked in partnership with the University of Essex since 2000, and offers over 40 courses ranging from CertHE/DipHE, Degrees and Foundation Degrees in subjects ranging from Business to Fashion which can be studied full-time or part-time. In addition, a wide range of Access courses are available. The College is a popular choice for mature students returning to education.

Adult Education is a strength at the College, with daytime, evening or weekend classes available in over 400 subjects.
