This course is designed to prepare students to be able to work in the recording industry, set up their own studio and produce professional standard productions. The emphasis is on practical work. The course lasts 9 months including holidays and covers all the essential skills required to operate a professional studio including plenty of practical time amounting to 16 or more hours (up to 40 if wanted) per week. There is an average of 4 people per course.
At the end of the course students will be assessed for the TRW Music Technology & Sound Engineering Diploma level 1. This will be based not only on the quality of the work presented but also on their attitude.
The course consists of 3 parts:
Part 1 (8 weeks):
· Music Production & Sound Engineering Foundation course on Tuesdays 14:00 to 17:00.
· Practical periods: Wednesdays 11:00 to 16:00 +
· Thursdays or Fridays. 11:00 to 13:30 or 14:00 to 16:30.
During part 1 some of the practical sessions consist of assisting in actual recording sessions with a tutor to gain a better understanding and experience of the requirements of a studio engineer.
