The programme focuses on the period 1900-2000, and offers a wide range of modules in political, socio-economic, international, imperial, maritime, military, cultural and gender history; the degree is global in scope, embracing Europe, Africa, Asia and the United States; students can study general themes, or specific countries or a combination of both; in the first and second years, students take special core modules: the making of the contemporary world, and thinking about the past; in the third year, students write a dissertation related a special subject of choice; this programme offers exceptional depth and variety and provides a stimulating basis for understanding the contemporary world.
