The programme offers research training in generic social-science skills, providing students with a solid basis in social science theory and methodology; these are then built on within the socio-legal context through 2 skills-based modules offered by the law School.
Compulsory modules include: dissertation; approaches to research in law; data sources and data collection in the social sciences; philosophy of the social sciences; socio-legal research skills; social science data analysis; social science research skills; 1 option module from: comparative civil process; comparative legal profession; European environmental law and regulation; feminist perspective on social contractarianism; human rights and international business policy; international environmental law; international humanitarian law; globalisation and legal theory; law and social theory; patent law and policy; the family, law and social change; theoretical debates within feminist legal research; theoretical perspectives on law.
